Blackhat (2015)

The acting in this film was terrible. I typically like Chris Hemsworth’s films but this really fell short of my expectation. His acting was so bad, in fact, that it’s easier to believe that he’s the god of thunder than it is to believe that he’s an “American” hacker. His American accent was atrocious. Typically when foreign actors use a fake American accent you can hear them slip once or twice (and that’s expected). Hemsworth, on the other hand, seemed to almost use a combination of American and Australian accents, as his normal accent “slipped” through hundreds of times over the course of the film. It bothered me even more about the accent because I have seen Hemsworth in films where his American accent was done well. I feel that the story could have been very good if they did a better job explaining what was happening. The film jumped around a lot and did a poor job of explaining how things related to the overall story. Some of the action scenes were cool, so, at least there was something to keep me engaged at times. However, they were far from good enough to save this film.
