This is one of the most boring films I’ve ever seen. For one, films that focus on dance (any variation of dance) are not typically films I choose to watch. For another, every one of the characters in this film was annoying. Natalie Portman’s Nina Sayers was whiny, Mila Kunis’ Lily was just a bitch and Vincent Cassel’s Thomas Leroy was one of the most horrible human beings ever. I thought the story was subpar and even the way it was executed was uninteresting. The only thing I found interesting in this film was the symbolism used to show how Nina and Lily were foils of one another and the symbolism used to show how the characters in the film represented the characters in the ballet. This was most definitely a psychological film, but, to call this a thriller, I feel, is way off; nothing about this film was thrilling. I can certainly see why Natalie Portman won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. She had to play a pretty jacked-up character in this film; however, the role she had to play was incredibly frustrating (as I mentioned before). Getting through this film was a struggle. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0947798/
