The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961)

Writer's picture: Kyle BainKyle Bain

The way this film was done was incredibly strange. First, there was no dialogue through the first eleven minutes, only narration. Secondly, the entire film appears to have been something done at one point and then voiced-over by someone else years later. It’s almost as if the voices and the narration were not part of the original film and later on someone decided to add them over what sound had already existed. The characters in the film can be seen moving their mouths as if they were talking, but at no point during these movements did any noise come from them. Only when the camera was far enough away, or at an angle that the character’s face couldn’t be seen, did any dialogue take place. Due to the film being set up this way it was almost unbearable to watch. I felt like the story was decent, but because of all the negatives, I really struggled to enjoy much regarding this film. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0054673/
