The title tells the audience just about everything they need to know about the film before they even watch; it’s dumb. While the film’s story is truly inconceivable, it is actually written fairly well. The concept was absolutely ridiculous and it appeared, at times, that some of what was taking place did not fit with the rest of the story, however, everything in the film flowed smoothly. The film, as a whole was not terribly enjoyable, but it had some saving graces. The fact that the story was so cohesive and the acting was entertaining have to be the only reasons that people enjoy this film. Both Jim Carrey (Floyd Christmas) and Jeff Daniels’ (Harry) characters were incredibly stupid and, overall, unentertaining, however, the actors’ ability to embody such idiotic characters and portray them so well was quite an achievement. Their nearly flawless performances was one of the few things that allowed me to enjoy the film to any degree.
