I was pleasantly surprised by this film. While I didn’t think it was fantastic, I certainly didn’t hate it (which is exactly what I expected I would think). Considering the film was full of a bunch of unknown actors (as well as Britney Spears and with the exception of Zoë Saldana), the acting wasn’t the worst I’ve seen. Spears, surprisingly enough, was a decent actor and was believable in her role as Lucy (it was also interesting and smart to have casted her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears to play the younger version of the character). I would have actually been curious to see the conversation between Lucy and her mother (portrayed by Kim Cattrall), however, the scene is simply referenced after the fact. I often feel that when writers and directors do this in films it is due to the fact that the actors are unable to successfully portray what is happening at that point OR the writers felt that they have not successfully written the script for that particular moment and that it would affect the film in a negative way. Based on the fact that Spears was a rather unseasoned actor at the time, I feel that it was more likely the former. While Taryn Manning’s performance as Mimi was decent, I could not stand her voice (not even a little bit). I honestly cannot remember the last time that I was so frustrated with a person’s voice. If I’m being honest, I actually think that my favorite part of the entire film was the title, “Crossroads;” it held multiple meanings. While the characters travel across the country; it also represents the crossroads that each of the three female characters are dealing with, both past and present. Again, this film was not my favorite and I can’t honestly say that I will go out of my way to watch this again, but, I was very surprised by the fact that I enjoyed it. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0275022/?ref_=nv_sr_1
