My first thought on the film, based on the character of Verona (played by Jose Pablo Cantillo) was that this film was going to be strange--I wasn’t wrong. Also, I was immediately turned off by the odd use of camera. I thought that the transition, back and forth between the camera directly in front of Jason Statham, to the camera located under the pedal in the car was weird; especially due to the fact that the camera used beneath the gas pedal was incredibly blurry. While the film was not my favorite, I thought that the concept, something unlike anything else I’ve seen before, was interesting. The concept was strange but was well executed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and was well supported by the acting of Jason Statham, Amy Smart and the tertiary cast. In some ways, Statham’s character, Chev Chelios, reminded me of his characters from the Fast and Furious and Expendables series: a bit arrogant with a semi-twisted sense of humor. Along with the acting there was a plethora of odd comedy that helped balance the film and make it more enjoyable. What was most interesting to me was the number of interesting cameos throughout the film. Actors like Glenn Howerton, Edi Gathegi, Dwight Yoakam and, the most interesting of them all, Chester Bennington (credited as “Pharmacy Crackhead”) showered this film with their incredible presence. These actors each played a role that was greatly dissimilar from anything they would normally play: Howerton played a doctor and Gathegi played a cab driver. The film was full of action and would most certainly be entertaining to fans of action films. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479884/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
