Contraband (2012)

Giovanni Ribisi is a very interesting actor. In each of the roles that I have seen him in he portrays a different kind of weird. In this film he portrays a weasley punk of a character. I very much enjoyed his character, even though the audience was clearly meant to dislike him; I thought that his strong acting in this film is what drew me to him. Along with Ribisi, I thought that the majority of the cast was very convincing, particularly Ben Foster. I thought that Foster’s role, Sebastian Abney, was a difficult one to play and that he executed it well. I thought that this film was low-key in the sense that there were essentially no over-exaggerated action scenes and because of this the film seemed much more realistic than many Hollywood films that over-dramatize some realities. I enjoyed the film’s storyline and what made it so enjoyable was the constant twists and turns with the characters. To help with the story and to help the audience keep up with the ever-changing characters the film bounced around a lot, from location to location. This can sometimes make following a film difficult, but I felt that director, Baltasar Kormákur, did an excellent job of keeping everything properly pieced together and keeping the audience in the know and not confusing them. While the entire film was enjoyable. I felt that one of the things that made it so great was the characters and the actors. The characters helped to move the story forward, and the phenomenal acting is what helped make those characters and the story feel real.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1524137/?ref_=nv_sr_1
