Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)

Writer: Kyle BainKyle Bain

Like many animated children’s films, this film is cheesy (no pun intended) but a lot of fun. While this film may not be the best animated film of all time, I felt that the story was a lot of fun. Everyone likes food, so, using a story that was based entirely on the idea that food could literally fall from the sky is incredibly clever. While the voice acting was silly, I thought that it was exactly what the film needed. Obviously a film that revolves around a machine that makes it rain food can’t be taken completely seriously, so, having the voice acting just as goofy made the film work well. While the film is certainly geared more towards children, the story definitely attracts adults as well. The story is deep, touching on the idea that one can do anything as long as one works hard and ignores the naysayers. The idea of the unlikely hero(es) is attractive as well, as it touches even more on the idea that anyone can do whatever they set their minds to. I think I actually enjoyed this film more this time than I had in previous viewings. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844471/?ref_=nv_sr_1
