Cast Away (2000)

As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, Tom Hanks is one of the best actors of our generation. To be able to essentially talk to himself for more than sixty minutes worth of film is beyond incredible. Considering the man’s best friend was a volleyball and he was able to pull it off and make it truly believable is a testament to Hank’s acting ability. In a film that takes place on a very secluded island, so much happens throughout the course of the film and all of it was due to Hank’s phenomenal acting ability. This is truly a story of perseverance and strength (both physical and mental). What is interesting about the film is the fact that even after Hank’s Chuck Nolan makes it off the island, life is still just as rough. The film is symbolic of the fact that nothing comes easy in life but that if you try hard enough and have faith in yourself when the going gets tough it’s certainly possible to succeed. I had never seen the film prior to this and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0162222/
