Cars 2 (2011)

While this wasn’t as good as the first installment, it possessed all of the same positives from the first film. We see a great mesh of characters, a feel good story and the fantastic character of Mater. What was great about this film was that John Lasseter, Brad Lewis and the writers gave Larry the Cable Guy a greater role. What I found interesting about this film was that the focus shifted from Lightning McQueen (which is what the first film focused on) almost entirely to Mater’s character—without making McQueen’s character entirely obsolete. I thought that the new addition of characters was well thought out and well executed. Like in the previous film, every character is utilized to perfection and Lasseter leaves essentially nothing to the imagination by the time the film is over (considering this is a film based on talking automobiles).
