Cabin Fever: Patient Zero (2014)

While this film veered from the original story where the disease was connected through Rider Strong’s Paul, there was the obvious connection of “cabin fever” that was brought to light in a new way. I thought that this was a good way of keeping with the same theme while exploring something a bit new and keeping the story exciting. In the first film the disease is the threat, while in this film and it’s predecessor, we see not only the disease cause problems but humans become more of a threat as well. Exploring this idea adds a dimension of fear. I thought Sean Astin was a strange addition to this cast; especially to the third installment of the franchise (he also had a small role compared to the other characters or what you’d expect from a Hollywood star like Astin). The fight between Jillian Murray’s Jenny and Lydia Hearst’s Bridget was one of the corniest and most poorly choreographed fights I have ever seen. To make the fight even worse, it was completely useless. To be honest, all I expected from this film was a corny story about a flesh-eating disease with intense blood and gore (which is not something I typically seek out) and I got just that. However, the ending of this film really ticked me off. While this certainly wasn’t the best film in the series, I feel that it was better than the second film. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2102496/
