This film was incredibly cheesy and due to this I struggled to remain focused during certain portions of the film. Kristy Swanson’s Buffy, Michelle Abrams Jennifer, Hilary Swank’s Kimberly and Paris Vaughn’s Nicole were some of the most frustrating characters, ever. They were some of the biggest airheads in film history and just the way they spoke made my skin crawl. Swanson is apparently a decent actress (it was hard to tell in the beginning because her character was so dumb that she seemed like a bad actor), because as the film progressed, so did her character. She became less and less annoying and more useful as the film moved forward. I thought the vampires were put together in a fashion that made them anything but intimidating; they were more laughable than anything else. Paul Reubens’ Amilyn was the worst of the vampires. Reubens is much better off playing silly and ridiculous characters like Pee Wee Herman. Rutger Hauer’s Lothos was the most intimidating character in the film, at least until it came to his death scene, where he became just as corny as the rest. While I can’t completely bash the story, I didn’t particularly care for the way in which it was executed. According to Steph, the film isn’t as good as the television series, so if you’re into vampire stories, apparently the Sarah Michelle Geller version of this story is much better. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0103893/
