Brothers (2025)

Brothers is a remarkable and powerful short film about the power of family and sacrifice in the face of adversity.

Written by Leanne Dunne and Ross Syner (and directed by Syner), Brothers takes us on a brief tour de force of pain and sacrifice. When Kyle (James Eeles) confesses to having done something unsavory to his grandfather Nigel (David Bradley) and his younger brother Harry (Jack Christou), the three men engage in a short but intense conversation about the meaning of family and how to handle this dire situation.

Strong, powerful performances by the cast elevates the strong script to lofty heights. Simple yet highly effective staging and cinematography allow the viewer to take in the details of each scene. The music score, provided by Anthony Ford, subtly engages the viewer and adds to each scene without taking on a life of its own. It complements each scene tastefully.

While I want desperately to say more, I will not do so. I am convinced this phenomenal short film is best experienced as blindly as possible. Just know that everything about it is superb and that the way the final shot ties it all together will leave you stunned. Brothers definitely does not suck.
