Back to the Future Part II (1989)

Writer's picture: Kyle BainKyle Bain

The First thing I noticed about the film was the fact that Michael J. Fox appeared to have aged about fifteen years since the first film. Griff’s grandson was incredibly more annoying than any other character in the film. I think because of his character I think I actually enjoyed and appreciated Lloyd’s Doc more than I did in the first film. It was pretty interesting seeing what Robert Zemeckis and the writers expected the year 2015 to be like. The most interesting thing about “2015” was that the Chicago Cubs were said to have just won the World Series; not too far off considering how long it had been seen they had last won. I enjoyed the fact that the drama and what was at stake was more serious than in the first one. Also, I thought it was very cool how they overlapped the stories from the first and the second films. What annoyed me to no end was the fact that Marty and Doc’s plan is thwarted again and again with seemingly no limit to how many times they can fail. I understand that things going wrong adds to the drama, but, at some point, enough is enough. This certainly wasn’t a bad film, but it wasn’t as good as the first. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0096874/
